CVTC SHRM
During my presidency with CVTC SHRM, I worked with our CVSHRM liaison Rick Schemm to implement a mentoring program to match student members of CVTC SHRM with human resource professionals of CVSHRM. Our first semester 25 students signed up for the mentoring program. Our students meet once a month with their mentor to discuss current human resource topics to help them expand their knowledge in the field.
With the assistance of our Executive Council our membership has increased by over 50% within the first year. Members of the Executive Council would attend classes to discuss with students how being an active member in CVTC SHRM would expand their knowledge and opportunities.
Implemented a point system for members to earn points toward earning the HR Dude or HR Diva Award at the end of each semester. Members would earn points for attending meetings, being involved in the mentor program, attending SHRM conferences, attending CVSHRM meetings, and participating in community service projects.
